Before we arrive
- Water isolation confirmed — we need to know where the stop valve is
- A licensed plumber and electrician booked for disconnections where required
- Strata approval in place if you're in an apartment
- Parking and skip placement sorted
- Anything you want salvaged clearly marked
Protection and dust control
Before anything comes out, we lay floor protection along the access route and seal the doorway. Tile removal generates a lot of fine dust, so containment and extraction matter more than speed — the rest of your home shouldn't need a deep clean afterwards.
The order of work
- Fixtures out: vanity, toilet, bath, shower screen, tapware
- Wall tiles removed, then floor tiles and screed
- Wall sheeting removed back to studs where the scope calls for it
- Old waterproofing membrane stripped so the new one can bond
- Floor broken back to slab or joists if levels need to change
The asbestos check
Pre-1990 bathrooms frequently have asbestos cement sheeting behind the tiles. If it's there, it changes the job — it must be removed under licence, wrapped and disposed of properly. We hold a SafeWork NSW Class B licence for non-friable material, so on most homes we can continue without you having to find a second contractor.
What 'ready for the renovator' means
At handover the room is stripped to the agreed substrate, all waste is off site, and the floor is swept. Your waterproofer and tiler can start the next morning without doing your demolisher's clean-up first — which is the part that quietly costs people money on badly run renovations.
